President's Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to the PADESTA with PSOA website. As President of this organization, I hope that you will find this website helpful, informative, and supportive of your teaching.

This is an exciting year to be a Chapter President because ASTA with NSOA will be sponsoring the first Stand-Alone Conference at Ohio State University from March 26-29, 2003. I hope to meet many of you there.

Please review our calendar to check for other events that interest you. Our chapter sponsors Adjudication festivals, a Solo Competition, new music reading sessions, and Special In-Service workshops. As always we sponsor String/ Orchestra sessions at the PMEA State Conference. If you are running any events that should be included on our calendar, please feel free to let me know in advance. As a member of PADESTA with PSOA you will receive a newsletter and be eligible for Chapter-wide grants for special projects that you have in mind.

A very exciting project that we are undertaking for our members is the formation of an online music library exchange. We feel that this will greatly benefit our members. Our goal is to make available music/orchestra parts you wish to use by connecting you to people who would be willing to lend it to you.

For those of you who wish to start or renew a membership - or perhaps give a gift membership to a student, a new teacher, or a string-playing friend - all the necessary information can be found by taking the following link to the ASTA with NSOA web site (www.astaweb.com). Membership benefits are many, and our state chapter does receive a portion of the membership dues. As always, the more members we have, the more we can do for our members.

Remember, this is YOUR organization. The membership includes teachers, business, students, and string enthusiasts all with different talents, ideas and needs. Please feel free to share your ideas and comments with me and other board members. We want your input to make this organization even better!
